Wharton State Forest: The Choreographed Chaos puzzle/challenge is set in the heart of the pines "Wharton State Forest". With over 100,000 acres Wharton is the largest New Jersey State Forest and provides a great backdrop for this challenge.

Because this challenge will require several trips, individuals (or teams) may be interested in camping as it may not be possible to complete some of the field challenges/puzzles in a single day. Wharton State Forest has two campsite areas, one at Godfreys Bridge and the other at Atsion. In the Summer there is swimming at Lake Atsion. Wharton also has seven basic camping areas at: Buttonwood Hill, Bodine Field, Hawkins Bridge, Batona Campsite, Mullica River Wilderness Campsite, Lower Forge Wilderness Campsite and Goshen Pond. The Atsion sites have hot showers and flushing toilets while the other campgrounds only have outhouses.
Wharton is also the home of the restored village of Batsto, a 19th century bog iron and glassmaking center. The Batsto site has ample parking, a visitors center and restrooms. This area can serve as a great meeting point for trams or starting point for individuals who will be hiking.
Wharton State Forest encompasses a 25-mile segment of the Batona Trail which crosses the park. (The entire Batona Trail is 50 miles.) In addition to lush foliage and ample hiking opportunities Wharton also has canoeing year-round in Mullica, Batsto, Wading and Oswego Rivers.

The Wharton State Forest Area is rich with geocaches with over 126 caches within a 12 mile radius. CPC Board Members DB & BNB cleared all of the caches in Wharton State Forest in January 2005 while researching the Choreographed Chaos challenge. Cachers can seek all of these additional geocaches while working to solve the Choreographed Chaos challenge.
